Recovery Coach Academy of Canada (RCAC) delivers dynamic training that transforms how people approach supporting recovery. Our programs challenge outdated ideas, strengthen practical skills, and empower individuals to support others on a human level, offer hope, and show up with greater compassion, clarity, and effectiveness for those impacted by addiction.
We are dedicated to providing training spaces that allow for vulnerability, authenticity, and growth. Our work is rooted in participant-centred approaches, connection building, and humanness — creating spaces where real conversations happen, where lived experience is honoured, and where recovery is supported with care, respect, and purpose.
Since launching in 2024, we’ve provided training to over 500 Recovery Coaches across Alberta, strengthening recovery-oriented communities and sparking conversations that matter. Every training we offer is built to honour the lived experiences of individuals, foster real human connection, and create lasting change — within ourselves, within our systems, and within our communities.
The path to becoming a Recovery Coach includes a foundational five-day training, followed by learning ethical decision-making and what professionalism in recovery coaching truly means.
Coaches then move into mentorship programming and specialized skill development, leading to a panel interview that affirms their readiness to support others with integrity, clarity, and care.
Throughout the journey, you are part of a recovery coaching community, with ongoing support, connection, and mentorship to help you continue growing both personally and professionally.
Delivered in-person over five days, this 30-hour training is an introductory learning experience for aspiring recovery coaches.

RCAC offers facilitator led training grounded in participant centred recovery support. We focus on real world approaches to recovery, helping community members, front-line workers, outreach teams, leaders, and organizations build confidence and clarity. Our training explores the difference between helpful and unhelpful help, and how even well intended care systems are causing harm today.
